Let Your Natural Beauty Shine Bright!

Dry. Weak. Brittle. Damaged.  Not ideal words to describe your hair! However, it seems that winter weather, daily use of flat irons and blow-dryers, lack of daily heat protectant products, lack of hair upkeep, hard water or exposure to chlorine all take part in making our hair feel this way.

Ayurveda is India’s ancient healing tradition and centers around the belief that there are intense connections between our mind, body and spirit.  Aveda’s Research and Development scientists artfully crafted Botanical Therapy’s scalp and hair products to create an intense aromatic experience and draw on the art and science of pure flower and plant essences to rejuvenate the scalp, hair and senses.

Balance. Health. Beauty.

Botanical Therapy is a holistic approach to keeping the scalp and hair in balance.  Using Ayurvedic wisdom and innovative botanical science, Aveda developed revitalizing scalp and hair treatments to help achieve healthy, beautiful hair.  Each treatment combines the power of touch and aroma-therapeutic essential oils.

Botanical Therapy gives a unique hair and scalp experience:

  • *Aroma + Touch – Each Botanical Therapy treatment merges aroma and high-touch massage techniques to renew and refresh your mind, body and senses.
  • *Outstanding Performance in Less Time – Witness a dramatic improvement in the condition of your scalp and hair in a matter of minutes.

Each customized Botanical Therapy service is created from two treatment options: a scalp treatment or a hair treatment.

  • *An aroma-therapeutic massage accompanies the application of each product to maximize the product benefits while nourishing the senses.

What Route is Best for your Nails?

Are you wondering what route is best for your nails?  You’ve come to the right place.  There acrylic nails, gel nails, gelish nails, and shellac just to name a few.  So, what’s the difference?

Acrylic nails are also known as fake or artificial nails.  They are considered enhancements which has the potential of damaging your natural nails usually during the removal process.  If they are not maintained on a two-week basis (which can be rather pricey) the acrylic can lift from the natural nail and moisture and bacteria can accumulate between them and fungus can grow.  Most times, the removal process can leave the natural nail brittle and weak.
Gel Nails are enhancements which are different than polishes.  Any enhancement, again, has the potential to damage your natural nail usually due to the removal process.
Gelish is a gel polish that cures under a UV lamp and lasts for weeks when properly applied but does require a little buffing of the natural nail.  It requires some buffing of the polish surface for removal and usually soaks of in 10-15minutes  If the nail designer is too aggressive when buffing during the preparation, the natural nail can be damaged.
Shellac is a power polish that cures under a UV lamp and lasts for weeks.  There is no buffing of the natural nail for application.  No buffing is required for removal and it soaks off in 10minutes.  There is no damage to the natural nail.

Say Hello to Shellac at Lovely!

Shellac combines the ease of polish with the performance of gels.  A true innovation in chip-free, extended-wear color.  Shellac applies like a polish and removal is just 10minutes.  There is no filing and no drills needed.  The results: 14-day, glorious, high-gloss shine that is truly addictive.

As seen in “Oprah Magazine” (May 2011), “We tried it and you might want to Shellac”.  Oprah’s assistant beauty editor received a Shellac Manicure and, “remarkable, the fiery red on her fingers stayed brilliant, and entirely chip-free for 21 days.”

Say Good-Bye To:

“Is it Dry?” Time. No more re-do’s. No more driving “palms-only” on the steering wheel or returning to the salon before you’ve left the parking lot.
Flawed.  No more edge wear.  No more chips, scratches or dulling.  No more signs of wear after a couple of emails.
Weak Damaged Nails.  No more cracks.  No more snags.  No more weak flimsy nails that break at the sign of a button.
Rough and Unhealthy.  No drills.  No filing.  No soaking.  No more nail-damaging, time-consuming removal.  Period.

Say Hello To:

Zero Dry Time.  Shellac has no dry time – it’s UV cured.  Reach in your purse.  Grab your keys.  Grab the wheel.  And drive with confidence.
Flawless.  2-week perfect, glorious, high-gloss shine is here!  Email.  Tweet.  Blog away – with flawless nails the whole way through!
Resilient Mirror Finish.  Tough, flexible, brilliant color that takes whatever you dish out.
Strong Protected Nails.  Thin yet strong – Shellac protects and helps strengthen natural nails.  Button your buttons.  Twirl your hair.  Forget those nail nasties.
Fast Gentle Removal.  Don’t soak, drill or file.  Wrap!  Shellac removes safely and easily in 10 minutes – really!

What Hair Color is Best for You?

Choosing the right hair color is not as easy as picking a color you like.
It’s important to consider your natural hair color, your skin tone and eye color when choosing a new hair color.

Pale skin suits pretty much all hair colors.  Pink skin should avoid shades of red or golden blonde. Ash tones will neutralize your coloring.  Yellow skin should avoid yellow, gold or orange tones. Use deep reds or cool colors – champagne, sandy or ash blonde or cool browns.   Olive skin suits darker hair colors and are complimented by warm gold or reds. As a general rule, coppery-reds look more natural than blue reds.

If you know what colors of clothing suit you best, it can help you choose the right hair color.

If you look good in red, orange, golden yellow, olive green or rust, warm hair tones such as golden blonde, golden brown, strawberry blonde and auburn will look best.

If you look good in bluish-red, fuscia, black, royal blue or pine green, cool hair tones such as platinum, ash blonde, ash brown, burgundy and jet black will look best.

If you look good in red, purple, charcoal grey, periwinkle or teal, neutral tones like sandy blonde, beige blonde, chocolate brown and mahogany will look best.

What Hair Color says about You

Natural or colored, the shade of your hair affects how the world sees you…and how you see yourself.  At least some of our self-image is based on the perceptions of other people.  You partially view yourself through others’ eyes and act accordingly.  That’s why the color of our hair tends to stereotype us.

Red Hair
There are very few natural redheads – only 3% of the population is said to have been born with fiery locks. For centuries, redheads have had to fight stereotypes. For many, red hair atop a female head automatically conjured images of wild women, hotheads or femme fatales. Redheaded women are often portrayed as strong and independent. They are a head-turning hybrid between the moody brunette and the bubbly blonde. A redhead is not afraid to have fun and get noticed. Red hair compliments brown, which seems to be a color in fashion. Brown hair with brown fashion can look dull, while red adds more depth and contrast. Red hair also seems to have more shine, which can make your hair look more healthy and beautiful.

Blonde Hair
Do blondes really have more fun? Maybe. Blonde is a happy color that reminds us of sunny days at the beach.
People see blondes as having more youthful vitality than other colors, and blonde hair can make you look younger. There’s a subtle correlation between youth and blondness, since babies and children tend to have lighter hair than adults.  Do we still think blondes are dumb? Many people say we don’t anymore. The Dumb-Blonde jokes are old. Modern blondes are perceived as powerful, independent and, of course, still very sexy. Blonde hair tends to require a lot of attention to keep it looking glamorous and healthy, so blondes can give off the impression of high maintenance.

Brunette Hair
Brunettes project a grounded, stable image. Darker colors also connote earthiness. If you are wanting a more serious, sophisticated look, try a darker brunette hair color. According to Allure magazine, 76% of American women think the first female president will have brown hair. According to a study into hair color and the intensity of attraction, 51% of men thought brunettes were more attractive. Brunettes were described as intelligent, independent and self-sufficient. Women with medium-length darker hair are perceived as smarter and more fun-loving.
